The Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager (NUM Level 1) to assist in the management of the Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager ICU/CCU (Level 3), the successful candidate will be required to have extensive exposure to high acuity nursing with proven experience to teach and develop staff. This role will be responsible for the day to day management of the unit, including rostering, managing the resources and staff of the unit, and the provision of management, mentorship and support to staff in the achievement of excellence in nursing practice.

Working together with the Nurse Unit Manager ICU/CCU (Level 3), this position will be responsible for the provision of efficient and effective operating services that achieve optimal patient outcomes. This position ensures the delivery of high quality nursing care in accordance with legislative requirements and professional guidelines. The NUM (Level 1) will promote a culture that embraces best practice and identifies, evaluates and incorporates appropriate emerging trends in the practice of the clinical disciplines within the unit.

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team

  • Demonstrated motivational, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of contemporary nursing and health care trends, issues and directions

  • Ability to demonstrate and lead others in recording and communicating essential information to nursing colleagues, doctors and other health professionals
